In the third inning, The Hondos racked up 6 runs... on 3 walks, 2 Bullfrog errors and just one hit. It proved to be a deficit that the good guys just couldn't come back from.
BUT, not without trying!
The Bullfrogs answered in the bottom of the 3rd with a couple of runs, then in the 5th and 6th innings, both, scoring 3 runs to pull ahead by 1 run.
Earlier in the season, the Hondos were picked apart by the Bullfrogs with a little of what some might call Small-Ball. This time, it was the Hondos' turn. Only hitting the ball 3 times, and effectively bunting 4 times, they were able to score on errors and walks. Though the Bullfrogs took advantage of some sloppy gloves and off-throws by the Hondos, they weren't able to score when they needed to. The Hondos did, and that is what matters at the end of 9 innings!
These teams' combined scores/strike-outs/hits:
Bullfrogs Hondos
K's 22 25
hits 24 16
runs 20 22
So, it's debatable about who is the better team... but the bottom line is that they both got a win and a loss in facing one another.
The last game with the Charros, the Bullfrogs got 7 runs and the Charros, 15. Maybe this game will leave a split result between the teams... The Bullfrogs DO hit homeruns in Pueblo...
