Bombers hold on to win season finale.
The regular season came to a conclusion Sunday, and the Bombers closed out the season with another victory. In what may be a preview to a future playoff opponent, the Bombers had their hands full against a talented Hondos team. The final score of 14 to 13 tells a tale of two teams going back and forth all afternoon. The Bombers struggled early in the game as the Hondo’s jumped out to a 8 – 3 lead after two innings. Amazingly, the Hondo’s plated those 8 runs on one hit! Despite this, the Bombers kept pecking away until they had a breakout inning in the 5th where they scored 6 to take a 12-11 lead. The Bombers added 2 more runs the next inning, and while the Hondo’s put more on the board and were threatening in the last inning, the Bombers never relinquished the lead from that point.
The victory was rather symbolic in that it did not change anything for the Bombers heading into the playoffs, but nonetheless it was important to close out the regular season on a high note. The Bombers head into the playoffs looking to regroup and have their squad ready to go.
